About the Job

The Health Supply Chain & Advocacy Manager role comes with an attractive annual salary range and is a full-time permanent position. Applicants can expect fair and transparent compensation, with a focus on internal equity and external competitiveness.

This opportunity is best suited to experienced professionals with at least five years’ relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree or higher in pharmacy, supply chain management, public health, or a related field is required, paired with proven advocacy and policy work in health systems.

The successful candidate will be involved in strengthening health systems and ensuring essential health supplies are available for the most vulnerable communities. You’ll work alongside dedicated teams and enjoy a structured work environment with opportunities for cross-border collaboration.

The ideal candidate is expected to possess strong problem-solving skills, an analytical mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Swahili. Familiarity with working with governments and multi-stakeholder environments is crucial.

You must be results-driven, adaptable, and demonstrate a passion for public health impact. Regular in-country travel is expected, making flexibility and a collaborative spirit essential for success in this role.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As the Health Supply Chain & Advocacy Manager, your daily work will focus on driving advocacy strategies and improving the health supply chain processes for primary health care programs.

Your role involves developing relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies and health partners. You will support the translation of supply chain evidence into county policy and help shape sustainable investment approaches.

Developing high-quality policy briefs, coordinating with senior managers, and leading advocacy for better access to health commodities will form the core of your duties. You’ll also train and support health workers in supply chain management.

Participating in assessments, designing supply chain systems, and managing logistics form a significant part of the job. Engaging with technical partners and donors is also part of the routine, aligning efforts for continual system improvements.

Each week, you’ll divide your time across various department offices, ensuring a presence in both technical meetings and hands-on fieldwork to monitor program implementation and effectiveness.

Key Advantages of This Role

One of the main advantages of this job is the chance to create tangible change in public health, especially for under-reached populations. You drive advocacy and see policy translated into real benefits for communities.

Another benefit is the opportunity for substantial professional growth and skill building. This environment fosters teamwork, creative problem-solving, and engagement with expert partners globally.

Key Drawbacks to Consider

The position demands frequent travel and considerable fieldwork, which may not suit those preferring a single-office setting. This mobility is essential for effective programme delivery.

Additionally, managing multiple stakeholders and navigating complex organisational structures can present challenges, requiring strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to succeed.

Verdict

This position is best suited for health professionals with hands-on experience in supply chain advocacy, a passion for health equity, and readiness to travel when needed. The learning opportunities, international exposure, and the difference you can make in public health make it a highly recommended role for ambitious candidates who value impact.
