What are the physical benefits of practicing Yoga and well-being?

Yoga is an incredible practice and through it, you can experience countless physical benefits that will strengthen your body.

We want to show you one by one so that you understand how much Yoga promotes bodily well-being:

Yoga fights inflammation

First of all, we couldn’t forget to mention inflammation. This practice is especially effective in improving the body when it comes to this.

In turn, they can be caused by food, chemicals or environmental factors, and are common problems in our everyday lives.

Reduces general pain or chronic pain

Furthermore, Yoga is also effective in reducing general pain, whether in the muscles, joints, knees, neck or any other part of the body.

The improved flexibility provided by Yoga can significantly help alleviate these pains.

Blood pressure can decrease with Yoga and well-being

Another notable benefit is the positive impact of Yoga on blood pressure and heart rate. For those who are struggling with hypertension, Yoga can be a great help.

Specific yoga postures and positions optimize blood circulation in the body, which in turn improves heart rate.

Greatly improves your physical fitness

Finally, Yoga is also a great way to improve your fitness.

It is important to highlight that it is not always necessary to resort to intense and strenuous exercises to achieve better physical conditioning.

It can often provide noticeable improvements, thanks to its challenging poses and focus on strength and body balance.

But what about mentally? See how Yoga helps improve your well-being in this area!

In addition to helping you with your physical well-being, Yoga and well-being can help you with your mind and, perhaps, with mental problems you are struggling with. See which ones:

Increase your concentration

This practice is a great way to increase your concentration. Through it, you will gain more control by paying attention to your movements.

Control your emotions with Yoga and well-being

Controlling emotions is also a benefit. During practice, it is necessary to keep the mind empty to achieve greater balance and effectiveness with Yoga. This is why it is so useful.

You learn to value the present – reducing anxiety

Yoga also promotes appreciation of the present. Living more in the present, leaving the past behind and looking forward to the future, becomes more important with this practice. And this reduces anxiety.

Improve your sleep

Finally, with all these benefits for your mental health, we couldn't fail to mention one of the best: better quality sleep.

Relaxation and worries disappear, allowing you to surrender to the world of dreams after a beautiful session.

Check out some Yoga and wellness techniques for breathing

Did you like all the benefits we talked about about Yoga? If you want to start practicing, you can check out some of the best breathing techniques.

Technique 1 – Diaphragmatic breathing

The first technique is diaphragmatic breathing. Sit up straight, place one hand near your navel and the other on your upper chest. Inhale until your abdomen rises and exhale until it falls.

Technique 2 – Altered breathing through the nostrils

Next we have the alternate nostril breathing. Sit cross-legged and place your left hand on your knee.

Then, cover your right nostril with your right hand and inhale. Then, cover your left nostril and exhale. Continue alternating.

Technique 3 – Resonant Breathing

So let's go to the third one which is the resonant breathing. For this one, simply breathe in for 5 seconds and out for another 5 seconds.

Do this for a few minutes to reduce stress (author's tip: it also helps calm anxiety before bed!).

Technique 4 – Bee Breathing

In turn, the fourth technique is bee breathing. To do this, sit with your eyes closed, relax your face and place your fingers on the cartilage that covers part of your ears.

Inhale and, as you exhale, press it. With your mouth closed, make a sound similar to the buzzing of a bee.

Technique 5 – Pursed-lip breathing

Finally, we have the technique of pursed-lip breathing. To practice this technique, relax your neck and shoulders and keep your mouth closed.

Inhale through your nose, purse your lips as if you were going to whistle, and exhale slowly. Repeat for a few minutes throughout the day.

Understand better the philosophy of Yoga and well-being

Yoga is an ancient art with a long history of practice dating back over 5,000 years in India.

Initially, it was a spiritual discipline whose objective was to promote the evolution of the human being on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Furthermore, it is composed of eight main philosophies. The first of these is Yama, which values self-control and moral values. The second is Asana, which refers to physical practice.

The third philosophy is Niyama, which focuses on personal self-regulation. Pranayama is the fourth philosophy and involves breath control. Pratyahara is the fifth philosophy and deals with sense absorption.

Dharana is the sixth philosophy and involves concentration. The seventh philosophy is Dhyana, which focuses on meditation. Finally, the eighth philosophy is Samadhi, which refers to self-realization.
